Covered Cars - London 2011/2012

These long-term parked cars in London are covered by a tarpaulin to protect them from rain, leaves, tree sap and pigeon droppings.

The choice to shoot these cars in black and white and in isolation from other vehicles stems from a desire to distance the viewer from the mere functionaliy of the covers, and confront him with a new, more dreamlike perspective, perhaps recalling the works of Christo or the identity-masking characteristics of the burka.

These series of photographs were concluded in 2011/2012 in London.
