BUILDING BANGKOK

Bangkok 2012.
I noticed very quickly these young Cambodian and Isaan building workers not only because of their appearance of hip young men but most importantly because of their hood which protects them from the sun (skin tone gives a clue of the social rank in Asia). The facial coverings give them also an anonymity that I find intriguing. Potographed « in situ » with a white sheet for the background to isolate them from their working area, they pose holding a Leica with reference to the numerous huge iconic portraits of the King in the city which show him very often with a camera. These workers represent Bangkok past, present and future.
