PHOTOMATON
In March 2015, I flew again to Eritrea. This time, I was invited by the French Alliance of Asmara for « La journée de la Francophonie ».
The aim of this project was to make a large amount of portraits of Eritrean students from the French Alliance with a Polaroid Studio Express, a photographic performance in the form of a « photomaton ».
A total of 65 portraits were shown at a deliberate contemporary installation at Odeon Cinema in Asmara. With no doubt, all the numerous Eritrean visitors enjoyed seeing the exhibition and FPDJ members who came to the preview said they were dumbstruck.
I intentionally used a camera which was used in the past for ID and passport pictures…
